Pura Vida, whales, dolphins and adventures
At Pura Vida, we invite you to discover one of the most biodiverse marine areas in Europe. On board our beautiful traditional boat, specially adapted for whale and dolphin watching in small groups, we sail daily through the waters of southern La Gomera in search of dolphins and whales in their natural habitat.
The waters between La Gomera and Tenerife are home to a resident population of short-finned pilot whales, one of the few stable communities of this species in the world. In addition, more than 20 cetacean species have been documented in this area, including bottlenose dolphins, spotted dolphins, sperm whales, and fin whales. Thanks to the abundance of food and the unique ocean conditions of the Canary Islands, sightings are possible all year round.
Our priority is to offer a responsible whale-watching experience based on sustainable navigation and the utmost respect for the marine environment and its wildlife. For this reason, we are part of the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism.
Once comfortably settled on board, we head out to sea towards the areas with the highest probability of encountering cetaceans. During the excursion, you will be able to observe these animals in their natural environment while our crew shares information about their behavior, migrations, and characteristics.
The relaxed pace of navigation and the small group size allow you to enjoy the ocean in a close, peaceful, and authentic way, connecting with nature and the impressive volcanic coastline of La Gomera.
And to complete the experience, we will enjoy a picnic on board while continuing to sail through one of the Atlantic’s most special marine sanctuaries.
This is what Pura Vida is all about!!!

We've been in couple in this lovely tiny boat, a confy bed was on the front of the boat, the thing really good about pura vida excursion is that they respect the animals, we crossed other boat from other compagnies and they were not turning off the engine when get really close to whales and almost crush one of them. So please try to choose this company instead of others more touristic. The crew was lovely and fun ! They prepared a picnic of simple tapas but good! We saw a lot of pilot whales it was really magical, they put classic music which give the moment even more intense !AMagd, "Super cool !" Tripadvisor 2020
Fantastic way to spend a few hours with sea mammals We had a wonderful experience with our afternoon on the Pura Vida. The crew (mother and daughter) were very friendly, knowledgeable, safety conscious and environmentally aware. We were able to spend hours on the boat, watching schools of striped dolphins, pilot whales and an osprey and a baby loggerhead sea turtle. They were very friendly and approached the boat often, especially when the engines were low. We knew when they had had enough because they swam off quickly. We had the option of staying at sea for longer or to go to a cove for a swim - we decided our afternoon on the water was going well and to avoid a swim. We were not disappointed and even at sea were able to enjoy a small picnic of prepared food and drinks - lovely!Paul Johnston-Knight Google Maps, November 2019

A truly magnificent experience. Totally worth it. Small groups in a cozy atmosphere. Mother and daughter are in business for a year and offer a unique and professional whale watching experience. They communicate with other whale watching boats to guarantee for finding the whales that are around. Had a stop for a picnic, a glass of wine and a swim at the end. Perfect day!Amadeus van Schie Google Maps, December 2019
